The College of Architecture, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), led its students in a community development activity through the creation of Wall Art at the Wat Somanas community. The initiative aimed to enhance the local landscape, beautify public spaces, and create a more vibrant and welcoming environment, thereby contributing to the quality of life and fostering a sense of pride among community members.

The project provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of architecture, design principles, and visual arts in a real-world setting. The mural artworks were carefully designed to reflect the unique identity and cultural context of the community while improving the aesthetic quality and usability of public spaces.

Beyond developing professional skills, students gained valuable experience in community engagement, participatory design, and collaborative problem-solving. Through direct interaction with local residents, they learned the importance of understanding community needs and incorporating public input into the design process, helping them develop both practical competencies and social responsibility.

This activity reflects the concept of Service Learning, a key educational approach and distinctive characteristic of SSRU Architecture students. The program emphasizes not only academic and professional excellence but also civic engagement and public-mindedness, encouraging students to use their knowledge and skills to create meaningful benefits for society.

The initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting experiential and lifelong learning opportunities; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, through the enhancement of public spaces and community environments; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering collaboration between higher education institutions and local communities in creating sustainable social development.

The College of Architecture, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, remains committed to utilizing architectural and design knowledge to create value for society while nurturing graduates who possess professional expertise, social responsibility, and a strong commitment to contributing to sustainable community development.
