Powers and Duties of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University

By virtue of the authority vested under the Rajabhat University Act B.E. 2547 (2004), as stipulated in Chapter 1 (General Provisions), Section 7, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University is designated as an institution of higher education for local development. The University is committed to empowering the nation's intellect, revitalizing lifelong learning, preserving local wisdom, and advancing arts and sciences for the sustainable and stable prosperity of the people. It plays a vital role in the management, conservation, and sustainable utilization of natural resources and the environment.

The University’s objectives are to provide education, promote academic and professional excellence, conduct teaching and research, offer academic services to society, improve, transfer, and develop technology, preserve arts and culture, produce qualified teachers, and enhance the academic standing of the teaching profession.

In accordance with Section 8 of the same Act, to achieve the objectives outlined in Section 7, the University shall carry out the following duties:

1. Seek truth in pursuit of academic excellence, grounded in local, Thai, and global wisdom.
2. Produce graduates who possess both knowledge and moral integrity, have a strong sense of Thai identity, love and attachment to their communities, and promote lifelong learning within those communities, enabling them to adapt to change. The number and quality of graduates must align with the national higher education development plan.
3. Promote understanding of and pride in the values, awareness, and significance of local and national culture.
4. Learn from and strengthen community leaders, religious leaders, and local politicians to cultivate democratic values, ethics, and community development leadership skills for the public good.
5. Strengthen the teaching profession by producing and developing high-quality educators and educational personnel who meet the standards of a professional career.
6. Promote collaboration and mutual support among the University, local communities, local administrative organizations, and other domestic and international entities to foster local development.
7. Study and explore appropriate approaches for developing both indigenous and modern technologies that support local livelihoods and occupations, as well as strategies for managing, conserving, and sustainably utilizing natural resources and the environment.
8. Study, research, promote, and uphold initiatives based on the Royal Philosophy in the University’s efforts for local development.

In addition to the above-mentioned powers, duties, and responsibilities, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University is also obligated to operate in accordance with the Civil Service in Higher Education Institutions Act B.E. 2547 (2004) and its Amendment (No. 2) B.E. 2551 (2008), as well as the regulations and announcements issued by the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), and all other relevant laws and regulations currently in effect.
